The cucamelon, also known as the mouse melon, is the size of a grape, but looks like a watermelon and tastes like a cucumber with a dash of lime.

These adorably small fruits originate from Mexico and grow on vines!

Other names of the cucamelon include the Mexican sour gherkin, Sandita and Sandita Raton.

They can be eaten on their own as a tasty snack or placed into a salad whole to add a little extra flavour!

They are resistant to drought and can be grown in a container, so even if you have minimal or no garden space or are a particularly bad plant parent, you can still grow these.

As well as being a fun addition to a salad or eaten alone, they can also be eaten with seafood and even pickled, making their tangy taste even stronger!

Not only are they peculiar small snacks, they’re also very nutritionally beneficial, being low in calories, high in fibre and containing vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Perfect for a healthy diet and lifestyle!
